Low carb products are not easy to find. In fact, I find myself spending hours in the store reading nutritional labels and scouring ingredients because most products have a number of sneaky sugar additives. When I find a low carb product that TASTES good and doesn’t give me post meal anxiety, I buy it in bulk and throw it in my snacking rotation. I have a number of go-to products that we run through really quickly in our household– they are delicious and composed with low carb ingredients. I look for products with natural ingredients that won’t spike my blood sugar, reduce prep time and taste delicious.
Every time I say the word “treats”, I think of that video with Marcel the Shell that was popular a few years ago…. “Snoooozin’ and treats, treats and snoozin’.” Please tell me I’m not alone?
Low Carb Treats to Try
All opinions are my own and I have not been paid or incentivized by anyone to promote these products. I just want to share the love!!
Skinny Crisps are my go-to crackers at the moment. They are made with chickpea flower which is incredibly low carb and low glycemic index compared to refined white flour. Each cracker contains about 1 carb and they are thick enough to support whatever topping you choose. I love being able to sit down and snack with my husband when he is eating cheese and crackers or I’ll smear some almond butter on them for a quick snack on the go. My favorite flavor is “seeded” but my goal is to try them all soon!
Paleonola Grain Free Granola
Paleonola granola has been my dessert/breakfast/snack for the past 4 or 5 months. Its SO good and made with real ingredients. Granola and cereals have historically given me some of my worst blood sugar spikes because they are packed with refined sugar and oats which are so unpredictable and near impossible to digest without a spike. This granola is made with a base of nuts, coconut oil and spices which is also the base for my crunchy homemade granola BUT I dont have to spend anytime making this. I love the apple pie flavor with almond milk but I’m eying the pumpkin pie flavor too.
Swerve Sugar Replacement
Swerve has been big in the low carb baking world for some time now but it is new to me! This is a natural sugar replacement like Stevia but it has zero bad aftertaste like some of it’s competitors. It uses natural ingredients derived from fruits and veggies to add sweetness to any dish without affecting glucose levels. I have been using swerve for all my baking, like in these lemon poppy seed scones and whipped cream. I recently tried candied nuts with swerve and it was SO good and genuinely tasted like sugar coated nuts. Recipe to come!
For any of my low carb friends who enjoy baking, you have to give swerve a whirl. It actually measures the same as sugar and has the same sweetness. I just wish it came in larger bags!
